Michael McGrady, MSW
Michael McGrady is a social worker dedicated to supporting individuals from early childhood through adulthood as they navigate life’s challenges and work toward their personal goals. He holds both a Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Concord University. His clinical background includes experience in Substance Use Disorder (SUD) recovery and mental health treatment, with a current focus on working with children, adolescents, and adults.
Michael has a particular interest in helping youth diagnosed with ADHD and Oppositional Defiant Disorder (ODD). He believes therapy for children should be engaging and accessible, utilizing directive play therapy to encourage cooperation, emotional regulation, and skill development. By using relatable concepts—such as viewing the mind as a “Control Panel” or developing “cheat codes” for social situations—he helps young clients externalize their challenges and take an active role in managing their behaviors.
In addition to his work with younger populations, Michael supports adolescents and adults who are managing anxiety, depression, and life transitions. He integrates evidence-based practices, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), to help clients identify negative thought patterns and build resilience. Whether using play-based interventions with a child or guiding an adult through complex emotional hurdles, his goal is to provide a supportive, non-confrontational environment. Michael strives to empower every individual he works with to overcome obstacles, develop practical coping skills, and lead a more balanced, fulfilling life.
